Brighton has begun implementation for their “PEEPS Park Permit” which requires all riders to complete and online etiquette and education program before gaining entrance to their MY O MY terrain park.
OK, truth be told, I have seen parks do this before. For instance, Stratton in VT has required riders to show their SES Pass before entering the more professional parks. However, I have never heard of a mountain charging for the pass before now. Brighton is following in hot pursuit of every cable company out there by hitting up everyone for a $5 “processing fee” in order to receive your pass, even after completing the program.
It’s easy to agree that there are a lot of morons in the park sometimes. A little etiquette can go a long way, and for a mountain to offer or even require a short course is completely understandable. But this nickle and dime crap is a little lame in my opinion. Although, I suppose it wouldn’t really matter if lift tickets and passes didnt break the bank, but last time I checked they’re not getting any cheaper. The worst part is people will pay it because it’s only $5, I know I would cough it up. I suppose it’s just the principle of the thing. What do you think?

Now they’ve bumped it up to $10 D:
its only 5 bucks!!!!!!!!
It’s a good idea. I work for a resort in the park and get really tired of yelling at the dangerous little ones.
Yeah Stratton is just a video in a room as well. I know it’s only a few bucks, probably cheaper than a burger in most lodges haha, but it all adds up in the end.
Jiminy Peak in Ma makes you pay $3 for their park pass. But you only have to watch a 12 minute video in a room at the mountain. In all honesty, whether it’s $3 or $5, it doesn’t matter. They have to pay for the passes so in order for them to profit, people need to cough up some dough.
