Great January in New England

- January 25, 2011

I’ve neglected WhoaSnow again for awhile now, and although I’d like to say it’s because I have been out tearing it up on the trails every day, that’ just not the case. However I did make it out to Okemo this weekend to see some old friends and slash some powdery edges. The riding was great, and trail conditions were prime. Saturday was perfect. However, Sunday was as cold as a penguins frostbitten nipples so we pretty much called it a half day.

Besides the cold temps though, January has been an amazing winter month for us here in New England. We have been getting consistently pounded by winter storms on a weekly and even bi-weekly basis. This means fresh tracks and great packed powder practically every visit to the mountain. Generally February is our best month, speaking from experience, so I am hoping that the snow trend so far continues straight until March.

Bretton Woods in January

Above is a pic of me (taking a pic of someone else) at Bretton Woods recently. You can see the snow is above my knees and the fresh is just everywhere.

On another note, finally got my Youngblood Chillydog all patched up and back out on the trail. What a great board.
