Snowboarding without snow? Sure it’s been done before, but Liberty Mtn Snowflex Center in VA is doing it right. Check out this entire synthetic snowboard park.

So how is it done you ask? It’s an engineered synthetic surface that literally mists creating conditions that closely resemble hard packed snow. Open since August 2nd, this innovative US park has been a huge hit due to the popularity of snowboarding. Apparently the biggest difference between real snow and the Snowflex surface is edging.
“The surface is different than snow, but very close. You have to get the carving down for Snowflex and that is the largest difference from what I can tell,” – Lee Beaumont, Director of Auxiliary Services at Liberty University
However the Snowflex surface, unlike real snow, actually has a cushion to it. Although, on a downside it is a bit stiff which can result in skinning or burning of your skin without proper layering. Which is why riders are required to wear jeans and proper clothing such as long sleeves and gloves.

So if you’re in the area of Lynchburg Virginia this summer, check out the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Center, and get your park on.
