Every year it seems there is one song that I enjoy boarding to the most, this year is no exception. So lets cut to the point, the song is Shadowplay by The Killers off their 2007 album Sawdust. Yes, it is a cover of an 80′s song by Joy Division.
Admittedly I have been really into The Killers lately, after taking along hiatus not listening to them from their old Hot Fuss album. Even so, Shadowplay is not my favorite song from them by far, but there is good reason behind why it is my “official” 2011 boarding song.
A few weeks ago I went to Bretton Woods after a good 2 foot dumping of pow and got first chair to the peak. I tossed this song on having never listened to it while boarding and took my run. Needless to say that run turned out to be one of the best I have ever had. Now every time I hear the song I instantly associate it with an amazing snowboarding run. It’s kind of like what Absinthe Films did with The Who’s song Baba O’Riley when you think about it.
