Transcend Ski Goggles

- February 20, 2010

Apparently I missed the memo about the future arriving a day early in the world of Snowboarding. These goggles you see above are called the Transcend Ski Goggles by Zeal Optics and Recon Instrumental and apparently can display GPS, speed, altitude and much more in real time.

It may seem a bit far fetched, but the technology is actually scheduled to be available come October for $350 – $450 depending on the product you’re interested in.

Didn’t think I’d be seeing something like this until I was rockin’ my hoverboard, but hey, maybe that’s being held until 2011. However, with features like integrated GPS, altitude, speed, time, and more, practicality meets luxury in an almost affordable pair of goggles.

I’m curious to see if the idea behind these actually grows into the snowboarding, skiing or snowmobiling industry in the near future. Even if these never take off in the market, who knows what we may see in a pair of Smith goggles come 5 years from now.
