Snowboarding Playlist 2011/2012

- November 22, 2011

It’s that time of the year again, when the beards grow long and visions of powder pillows dance in our heads. Which not only means good times, but also good tunes. This year is no exception.

The 2013/2014 Snowboarding Playlist is available!

Or check out the 2012/2013 Snowboarding Playlist.

It wasn’t until recently that I really started paying closer attention to my snowboarding playlist, even last year I feel my list was lacking of proper boarding tunes, but more or less just music I enjoyed all around. Not saying I don’t enjoy my own music, but as I have said before I generally listen to different music on the mountain than in the car or while working. It all comes down to the tempo and flow of the music, I need something I can cruise to no matter what terrain im riding.

So here is my 2011 / 2012 boarding playlist line-up thus far. This will definitely grow throughout the season, but I think its a solid foundation to work off of from here. Throughout it you will find a wide assortment of instrumental, hip-hop, dubstep, indie, and even some rock, punk & pop-punk.

Laying down my first tracks on Monday, just in time for the possible 14+ inches ready to dump on Bretton Woods.

  • Good list, needs more radiohead, killers, and add standing on the shore & walking on a dream by empire of the sun

  • Sebastian

Add Houdini by foster the people and some songs by I am dynamite

  • The new EP Pure Wet is a masterclass in experimental
baselines and echoey, breathy vocals all underpinned by varying funk and
R&B-based rhythms. At a bargain 100 bolivianos for 4 hours, they
have enough power to get 2 gringo-sized riders up the
local hills. It was the perfect place to meet friends after work, have a few drinks, and unwind.

wish you could just purchase this list without searching out each song on iTunes. great list

  • Shane L

Nice playlist. I’m definitely going to try some of these. One more song I’m going to listen to on repeat is Gnarcade by Ground Up. If you haven’t seen this video yet, watch it.

    • Dan

Thanks Shane, that Gnarcade video is so sick. Got to love all the oldschool video game references… especially Bubble Bobble. I loved Bubble Bobble and I’m not afraid to admit it.

  • Caitlin

I have a lot of those songs on my own playlist. Very good, sir!

  • Some great choices there and then I spotted ‘Yours to Keep’ by the Teddybears! Saw those guys play at Roskilde in Denmark, one of the weirdest and coolest I’ve ever seen and not well known enough!

    • Dan

Haha nice, I have never seen or heard them aside from this song, but it’s been a boarding track of mine ever since i first saw Afterlame when it came out. I think I just associate it with some good times so it sticks around. Not sure why it says Stockholm.

  • Nik

Wow,you are the first to meet my taste. Thanks bro, I looked for music like this for quite some time!

  • Jarett

Thank you so much, Dan. I’ve got a snowboarding playlist of my own that I rode with last year in Colorado and it was really good, but I’ve been DYING for some expansion. This is just what I’ve needed; it’s beautiful and I’m glad you brought this public. I haven’t listened to all the songs but those that I’ve checked out match the overall atmosphere of snowboarding for that kind of playlist. Thanks again sir. Maybe later I’ll toss in a few gems of my own. Snowboarding 4 life! I look forward to adding this to my tunes!

    • Dan

Hey man thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Already started building my playlist for next season and it’s going to be a good one, so stay tuned…

  • Mikey

man i love this playlist! anyway you could sent me the whole playlist at once? it would make it way easier. just like a zipfile?

Put your list on Groove, So if anyone wanted to check it, hear it, find it.
I am working my way through it.
    Pretty good so far.

Not my normal listen, but i am a believer.
Re syincing my ipod before i head out for the ten inches of fresh pow.

    • Dan

Dude, that is so sweet. I know of Grooveshark but never used it, I will have to look into this. Thanks for checking it out and taking the time to do so. You sir, are the man.

I have made a few changes to my list throughout the season, most importantly removed a few of the oddball songs that didn’t quite fit such as Authority Zero and Cobra Skulls, I had just happened to be digging those songs at the time and threw them in. Enjoy the pow!

  • B4ZZY

Seriously… I got nearly a complete replica of your playlist…
Rode it last week in fresh powder in France… AWESOME!
    Next week Austria!

    Nice list!

    • Dan

Nice! It has definitely been working out pretty well this season for me as well. Thanks for the comment

  • Devo – Gates of Steel
    65daysofstatic – Radioprotector
    Okkervil River
    Animal Collective – Peacebone
That’s pretty much what’s on my mind right now… I’ll get back with other stuff sometime!

    • Dan

Sweet man thanks, I’ll check these out for sure.

  • Chase

Anything from the Revolver soundtrack from Poor Boyz productions
